Preparations being made for 2016 Presidential election

In a face-to-face meeting held on the Summer Solstice, officers of the Georgia Green Party agreed to hold the Party’s annual meeting in mid-September, 2015 in metro Atlanta. Full details will be confirmed once the venue is secured, but officers are aiming to convene Greens for a one day event on Saturday, September 12th or 19th in North metro Atlanta area. The Party uses its annual meeting to consider candidates for public office, to consider proposed changes to its bylaws and platform and to elect its internal leadership and officers.

The officers also discussed the Party’s ballot access strategy for the 2016 Presidential contest, its ongoing litigation challenging as unconstitutional Georgia’s ballot access barriers and also appointed long time Party activist Hugh Esco of Glynn County to serve as the Party’s new Press Secretary.

“In addition to an exploratory committee launched in Spring of this year by Jill Stein, our 2012 nominee for President, we are also hearing of a handful of other candidates seeking the Party’s nod,” said Bruce Dixon, Party cochair, resident of Kennesaw in Cobb County and the Managing Editor of the weekly publication, BlackAgendaReport.com. “We invite Green-minded independent voters from throughout the state to get involved and help us build an electoral alternative to the foreign and domestic wars without end offered us by the corporate parties.”
