2012 Green Party Nominee made two joint appearances with Dr. Cornel West

“All serious candidates seeking our nomination can expect a fair and level process to instruct the Georgia Party’s Delegation to the Houston Convention. Today, we saw that Stein has shown herself as a serious candidate for our nomination. As the 2012 Nominee, it would appear to be Jill’s nomination to lose,” said long time Party activist Hugh Esco, recently named for the first time as a state Party cochair. “If other candidates demonstrate a commitment to a fifty-one ballot-line campaign, I would urge Georgia Greens to support their campaign as well. It will take all the help we can muster to overcome the ballot access hurdles arrayed against us.”

Dr. Jill Stein, the Green Party’s 2012 Nominee for President of the United States told Georgia college students at three events, two where she shared the stage with Dr. Cornel West, that if elected, she would take executive action starting day one to forgive student loans. “If we can bail out the crooks who tanked the economy, we can certainly liberate the future of this country from predatory loans.”

The Green Party’s August 2016 Presidential Nominating Convention in Houston Texas will ultimately decide which candidate will carry the Green Party banner in the November 2016 Presidential contest. Stein is one among six candidates openly exploring their options or actively stumping for the nomination. But with upcoming deadlines for Primary qualifying the field is expected to shake out by January.

The Party is litigating ballot access barriers imposed by the State of Georgia in a case completing discovery this week. By early December, the Federal District Court is expected to consider cross motions for summary judgement in the case.

“I urge all Georgia Greens ready to straighten our backs as Dr. West tonight urged us to do to join me in supporting any Green candidate who brings their campaign to Georgia to support our ballot access efforts, where they show meaningful progress on matching funds compliance, and make a commitment to putting the Green Party on the ballot in Georgia,”
